What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is a clinical and evidence-based practice that uses various musical interventions and other creative arts to address emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs within a therapeutic relationship. It is accessible and beneficial to individuals of all ages, including babies, children, adults, and older adults, and can be implemented in diverse settings such as hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centres, and mental health facilities. For many people, verbal expression can be difficult. The creative arts offer an alternative means of self-expression, often circumventing speech and cognitive barriers.

A music therapy session may include musical improvisation using various instruments, bodily movement, listening to live or recorded music, songwriting, working with the voice, visual arts, or verbal processing.

No prior musical experience is needed for one to benefit from music therapy
